Nick Law
EVP, Chief Creative Officer,
R/GA
From NIKEiD to the Times Square DROID launch, R/GA is hellbent on applying technology to help brands give their consumers control, and has changed the very nature of product parameters by extending brand functionality into virtual worlds. In doing so, they’ve also triggered the next creative revolution. As Chief Creative Officer, NA, Nick is responsible for the overall creative vision of the agency, and guides teams consisting of visual designers, copywriters and interaction designers, working in close collaboration across disciplines. In his own words: “Today if you don’t collaborate you’ll quickly find yourself in a creative cul-de-sac.” He believes in a flat, flexible, modular structure because “no one knows it all”, and because “you’ll be making a bunch of different things (including some things that haven’t been invented yet).” View Nick’s full bio. |

Cindy Gallop,
Founder & CEO,
If We Ran The World, LLCWhat is the future of advertising? Cindy Gallop, founder & CEO of IfWeRanTheWorld and former chairman, BBH New York, tackles the $64 million question with some highly subjective and thought-provoking views on the new marketing reality, the interface between creativity and technology, how ad agencies should be restructuring themselves, what social media really means, why it’s all about production in the broadest sense of the term, and, of course, porn.

Stéphane Xiberras,
President & Executive Creative Director
BETC Euro RSCG, Paris
What if someone invented a machine that could replace the creative role of an ad agency?
BETC has done just that. C.A.I. (Creative Artificial Intelligence), known as Kay to her closest friends, is a piece of software created, programmed and developed by BETC’s planners and creative staff during eight months of hard work. Stéphane will show what Kay is capable of; an amazing yet frightening experience, sparking reflection on the fundamentals of the creative profession. Like Frankenstein’s monster, Kay is a creature whose only reason for existence is to show us what we should never become.
CAI could be advertising’s future. Which means you could all be out of a job very soon. Is creativity dying? Is it already dead? Will CAI replace the modern agency?

Castor Design defies labelingCastor’s work has been described as a cross between Guy Maddin and Larry Clark with a side of Stompin’ Tom Connors. They are interested in the middle ground between high design and ribald yokelism. Materials and reuse of materials is also an important part of Castor’s aesthetic. Burnt out bulbs to make lighting, a rusty shipping container to make a sauna – this re-contextualization of materials is a primary design consideration for Castor.
Castor is Brian Richer and Kei Ng. Brian Richer trained as an architectural stone carver and studied English Lit and Philosophy at York. Kei Ng studied architecture at the University of Winnipeg, then art directed films, and more recently has been feeding the masses at his namesake restaurant.Skype-ing in from their studio, Castor will design a special object for Shift Disturbers and drive it to the event in their custom Winnebago.
